This "Big Eye" style was specifically used on late-war battleships, destroyers, cruisers and other surface vessels! These were brought back by a US veteran who served in the Pacific. Made of a solid brass, aluminum, and steel by Nikko (Nikon) this set of binoculars is in VERY GOOD used condition!
Manufactured in 1944, they retain 85% of their original paint, and all optics are EXTREMELY CLEAR (though there is some slight spotting and dust particles)! Optical alignment is also almost perfect! Features a gradient scale in the right eye piece. The center features a prominent data plate indicating all manufacture information; the manufacture date (February 1944) and serial number "1105". The 80mm front objectives are slightly recessed, and both focus adjustment (though a bit stiff) function perfectly!
The manual sights are damaged (see photos), with the forward sight been bent... But that could easily be fixed/replaced. Sun Shields extend as they should. It would make a SUPERB addition to any collection or display!
Most of my items are vintage, and as such are AS-IS, so you must therefore expect a degree of wear due to age and/or usage. Although my passion is the Me109, I do offer many other German Aircraft Fw190, Me262, etc. , as well as USAF and Japanese items.
Occasionally I do offer many non-vintage items such as prints and art relating to the time period. Use is solely based on my authorization only. The item "WW2 Imperial Japanese Navy BIG EYE 15x80 SHIPBOARD BINOCULARS NIKON RARE" is in sale since Sunday, April 12, 2020.
