WW2 Imperial Japanese Navy BIG EYE 20x120 SHIPBOARD BINOCULARS VERY RARE
This "Big Eye" style was specifically used on late-war battleships, destroyers, cruisers and other surface vessels! These were brought back by a US veteran who served in the Pacific. Made of a solid brass, aluminum, and steel by NIKKO (Nikon), this set of binoculars is in EXCELLENT used condition! Manufactured in 1945, they retain 95% of their original paint, and all optics are VERY CLEAR, though there is some slight spotting and dust particles and you can see in the photos. Optical alignment is also almost perfect!
Features a gradient scale in the right eye piece (though to get a photo of, but you can see it in the last photos). The right side features a prominent data plate indicating; "20x3"; the manufacture name; and serial number "3208". The 120mm front objectives are slightly recessed, and both focus adjustment (though quite stiff) function perfectly! Sadly, the previous owner decided to take it apart at one time, and mounted the oculars backwards.In doing so, he also damaged the threads and some of the brass (see photos). It would make a SUPERB addition to any collection or display! Most of my items are vintage, and as such are AS-IS, so you must therefore expect a degree of wear due to age and/or usage.
