Rare Antique J E Stevens Chief Big Moon Cast Iron Mechanical Bank Indian Teepee w/Frog. This is a rare 19th century mechanical bank manufactured by the J E Stevens Co. It has such a clever design, there is a native American Indian (Chief Big Moon) sitting in front of his teepee holding a fish, there is a rippling pond with ducks and lily pads on the other end. There is a coin slot in front of the fish and when you press the lever a large frog jumps out of the pond, as the frog leaps up the coin drops into the bank at which time Chief Big Moon raises his arms holding up the fish away from the frog.
This bank is 9 3/4" long, 6" tall and 4" wide and says "Patent Applied For on the bottom. It is missing the trap door on the bottom. The bank is in great working condition, it is all original with wonderful detail and some of the original paint. Don't miss this opportunity to own this amazing bank.
