Vintage Big Sky Carvers William Bill Reel Rainbow Trout Fish Decoy Carving RARE

Trout is full sized at 15 inches long. There has never been a more beautiful rainbow trout by Bill Reel than this one, Period! Deep yet vibrant colors in great detail and patina. The oversized heavy duty burl base is simply a looker just by itself and I have never seen a nicer burl base either.

I would pay a fortune for it if I need a base to mount a carving. One of the pelvic fins was broken off and missing. All other parts in perfect new condition. It does not show when displayed as it should be (as in the first photo). I believe the fin came off in or right after it left the shop due to the position of the wood grub screw, setting the fish too close to the top of the base.

This did happen to some of the big sky trout carvings I have seen and this does not mean that the item was defective or inappropriately handled. It takes nothing away from how good this piece really is.
